Multi-grooving with formed tools for quartz and ceramics
[Issues in forming hard and brittle materials]
In general, metal bond wheels and electrodeposition wheels are used for general machining with formed tools for hard and brittle materials such as quartz and ceramics, giving priority to wheel shape retention. However, due to the hard and non-elastic bond, plunge grinding such as general machining with formed tools or groove machining tends to cause cracking and chipping on the workpiece. In particular, in the case of multi-machining using multiple wheels, the grinding load increases and vibration is likely to occur, causing cracking and chipping and making stable machining difficult.[Solution with composite resin bond cutting wheel]
The "MB" series, a composite resin bond wheel made of resin and metal, can be used in machining with formed tools to reduce cracking and chipping. The MB series wheels also have higher shape retention than conventional resin bond wheels, higher grinding durability than metal bond wheels, and a longer service life than electrodeposited wheels of the same machining quality. For harder ceramics such as SiC, the "BDH" heat-resistant resin bond wheel, which is a resin/metal composite resin bond wheel with a high resin ratio, can be used to further ensure grindability.

Resin bond wheel for grinding with formed tools
The "MB" bond series is a resin bond wheel with high shape retention using heat-resistant resin and metal filler. It has high sharpness and high shape retention in heavy-duty grinding with a large depth of cut.
The ability to form by electrical discharge machining makes it possible to form differently shaped abrasive grain layers, which are usually difficult to form, making this bond very suitable for machining with formed tools in plunge grinding.
The "MB" bond series is a bond that works well with both diamond and CBN wheels.
The diamond wheels are suitable for machining with formed tools for quartz, ceramics, and cemented carbides.
CBN wheels are suitable for the machining of high-speed steel blades and for machining with formed tools for iron-based machine parts that require high accuracy.
Since the wheels are heat resistant and capable of heavy-duty grinding, we have experience in machining with formed tools using multi-wheels that combine several wheels.
